Sheremetyevo Airport secures aВ successful liftoff for Dobrolet Airlines
With impressive speed, the airport has managed to establish favorable conditions for Dobrolet — readying the terminal and necessary equipment and allocating the required personnel
Sheremetyevo International Airport has secured the successful liftoff ofВ flight operations byВ Dobrolet (aВ 100% subsidiary ofВ Aeroflot). The low-cost air-carrier operated its first commercial flight from Terminal BВ ofВ Sheremetyevo Airport onВ the Moscow-Simferopol route.В 148 adult passengers and 34В children checked inВ for the inaugural flight.
Dmitriy Medvedev, Chairman of the RF Government, Maxim Sokolov, RF Minister of Transport and Vitaly Saveliev, General Director of Aeroflot OJSC were all on hand to participate in the official ceremony of the low-cost operator’s launch.
In order to meet the operating needs of Dobrolet Airlines, Sheremetyevo Airport was the first among major Russian airports to organize a specialized terminal and implement aircraft express-servicing technologies for low-cost flights, all at Terminal B. With impressive speed, the airport managed to establish favorable commercial, operational and service conditions for Dobrolet — readying the terminal and necessary equipment and allocating the required personnel. In particular, the following work projects were undertaken in order to create optimal conditions for Dobrolet’s passengers:
— food courts were organized in the main hall and in the concourse (water and snacks);
— a lounge for passengers with children was organized and equipped with a diaper-changing table;
— the concourse was decorated with the airline’s symbols;
— in light of the airline’s specific baggage-carriage conditions, passengers are now able to weigh their baggage before entering the check-in hall, where carry-on bags can be checked for compliance with the sizes allowed for carriage (airline rules have been posted at each check-in counter);
— two ticketing and excess-baggage payment counters began operating in Terminal B, one is located in the check-in hall and the other is in the main hall of Terminal B;
— check-in area designed for the airline’s traffic volume was prepared to ensure efficient passenger servicing;
— quantity of seats in the departure area was increased to make waiting time more comfortable;
— the airport’s personnel received comprehensive training on the special aspects of the low-cost airline’s carriage and passenger-servicing rules.
To provide passengers with greater convenience, a shuttle bus has begun operating between the airport’s terminals. Thus, it is now possible to get from the Aeroexpress railway station to Terminal B and back using Sheremetyevo Airport’s on-site road, thereby avoiding all possible traffic jams.
Sheremetyevo International Airport congratulates Dobrolet Airlines onВ the successful launch ofВ its operations and wishes itВ even higher passenger traffic inВ future.
AtВ present, the key route ofВ Dobrolet Airlines isВ Simferopol, with four flights planned per day. InВ 2014, the air carrier will operate flights onВ aВ total ofВ eight routes within the Russian Federation (Simferopol, St. Petersburg, Arkhangelsk, Kazan, Perm, Volgograd, Samara, and Tyumen).
Initially, Dobrolet will operate flights out ofВ Sheremetyevo Airport.
Sheremetyevo International Airport has been recognized twice as the top European airport offering the best passenger-service quality according to the results of the Airport Service Quality research program of ACI (Airports Council International) in 2012 and 2013. Since 2010, the airport’s passenger traffic has increased from 19.3 million passengers to 29.3 million passengers in 2013.
There are a total of six passenger terminals in the southern (Terminals D, E, and F) and northern (Terminals А, В, and С) sectors. The airport’s annual capacity is 35 million passengers. By surface area, Sheremetyevo Airport is the largest airport complex in the country (476,000 m²).
The airport’s airfield has two runways, running 3,550 m and 3,700 m in length; it is certified in accordance with the ICAO IIIA category and is capable of handling takeoff-and-landing operations of any aircraft types, including Airbus-380 and Boeing-787, regardless of weather conditions.
Sheremetyevo Airport’s comprehensive plan for long-term development up to the year 2030 provides for an increase in the airport’s throughput capacity to 64 million people and connecting traffic to 25% by 2030.
